Friends of Villa Grande is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in 2007 to purchase and care for the property now known as Patterson Point Preserve. It is governed by a Board of Directors elected at the annual FoVG meeting in early July each year.
To help defray costs of the initial purchase as well as to support continuing restoration on the Preserve, FoVG has sponsored a variety of "Fun(d)raising Events" over the years, including a formal Black and White soiree, a New Orleans music concert, several "Treasure Hunt" rummage sales, a "Night in Venice" costume ball and a Hawaiian Golf-and-Luau day. This year's winter fundraiser at the Monte Rio Community Center had a "Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland" theme that featured live music from the Fargo Brothers.
All fundraising events are open to the whole community, but FoVG also sponsors "Members Only" events that are special as well. On a full moon at the river in the fall, we throw a members' Thank You party, and we have also held progressive afternoon parties on the Terraces that feature amazing food and drink.
Parties aren't the only benefit of membership in FoVG. For those living in the Villa Grande area, FoVG has negotiated a contract with a propane supplier to receive a healthy discount for members. We invite you to join Friends of Villa Grande, and we can always use help, whether it be with planning events or helping with the care and restoration of Patterson Point Preserve.
