It's Show Time!
The Villa Grande HAM IT UP Talent Show is back! The 14th annual talent show will be held, as usual, Saturday of Labor Day weekend at 7:00 pm at the VG Fire Shack. The date is Saturday, September 5th.
Dust off your top hat and tap shoes, polish your tuba, tune your guitar and share your talent with your friends and neighbors!

Return of the Long Snake Classic! Join the Redwood Empire Chevy Classic Club and others for the 3rd Annual Long Snake Classic on Sunday, September 20th at the Monte Rio Theater & Extravaganza. Come for the cars, stay for the good eats and a screening of Two-Lane Black Top (James Taylor, Warren Oates, Laurie Bird, and Dennis Wilson)! If by chance you have a '55 Chevy (or other classic) hidden in your garage, email longsnakemonterio@gmail.com to register it for the show. |

Patterson Point Preserve Work Days
As summer turns to fall, we are gearing up for seasonal maintenance and cleanup around the Preserve. Volunteers are needed to help continue the ongoing weeding & restoration of Patterson Point Preserve. Contribute however much time you can and learn more about PPP! Bring your gloves and clothing as appropriate for protection (sun, thorns, etc.). Rainy days will be rescheduled if needed. If you have questions, please email pattersonpointpreserve@gmail.com. Tentative dates are as follows:
- 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 20
- 10:00 AM, Sunday, September 27
- 10:00 AM, Sunday, October 25

Emergency Information & Preparedness
Did you know the FoVG website has resources for emergency information and preparedness? Here's some timely reminders as summer winds down:
- Practice fuel abatement by clearing branches and debris from property, clearing debris off roofs, and trimming back trees and bushes.
- Prepare a "Go Bag" for emergency evacuations. Here is a checklist to print and use. A podcast with additional details about the checklist can be heard here.
- Test your smoke alarms to confirm they are in working order. Many people set monthly reminders to test and annual reminders to change batteries when turning clocks back from Daylight Savings Time (Nov. 1 this year).
Be sure to sign up to receive emergency info from local agencies. Resources to stay informed about power outages, air quality, fire status, flood levels, road closures, earthquake activity, and much more can be found on our Emergency Information page. This is now linked in the top navigation bar of the FoVG website as shown below. |
